CARIGARA,
Leyte, Oct. 6 -- The local government here has
welcomed the result of Citizen Satisfaction Index System (CSIS) showing
people are satisfied with the mandated services of local government units
(LGUS).
Carigara
and Barugo towns are two local governments in Leyte identified as target areas
this year for carrying out a citizens’ feedback mechanism.
Carigara
Mayor Eduardo Ong was elated with the very satisfactory performance of the town
in the CSIS presented to them by the Department of the Interior and Local
Government (DILG) on Thursday.
“With the
high satisfaction level of the people with the kind of governance, we are more
committed to continue and even improve in fulfilling our mandate,” Ong told
reporters.
The DILG
has been pushing for citizens’ feedback mechanism to gauge their awareness and
satisfaction with the mandated services of local government units.
CSIS is a
set of data designed to collect and generate relevant citizens feedback on
local government service delivery performance and on the citizens general
satisfaction.
This
program measures citizens’ satisfaction of the local government units delivery
of basic services on health , education, social welfare, governance and
response, public works and infrastructure, environmental management, and
economic and investment promotion.
Results
of the CSIS have undergone analysis and was presented to the local government.
Ong said
the CSIS results will then form part in identifying priority interventions and development
in initiatives in the improvement of the delivery of basic services of the
local government unit.
Carigara,
located 50 kilometers north of Tacloban, is a 2nd class town in Leyte province
with a population of 51,345. (LAAA/PNA)
